The Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks in Week 13

Writer: Dante McLeodDante McLeod

It’s week 13 of NFL season, and the identity of the best worst teams are officially in place. From personal opinion, the following list includes the NFL’s best quarterbacks in a list of 10. These are the ones who seem most valuable to their teams. They also made the list because of the record of their teams and them being NFL MVP candidates. The importance of this list rests in the fact that these quarterbacks, or some of these quarterbacks on this list, currently have the opportunity to make the playoffs and more. I also want to get football fans thinking. The ultimate goal pertains to sparking a healthy conversation between me and you all. So, my list follows.

1. Tom Brady

An ageless wonder, Brady, quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, still defies a lot of odds. Brady helped lead the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl win last year. Brady’s stellar play this year has the buccaneers pushing for a playoff spot and Brady in the NFL MVP race. Some expect the Buccaneers back in the Super Bowl.

2. Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Rodgers also makes a case for the NFL MVP. Despite the current controversy Rodgers faced with his COVID-19 situation, Rodgers delivered up to standards in his return against the Seattle Seahawks. The playoffs and the Super Bowl are also in their sights.

3. Lamar Jackson

As dangerous a runner as a passer when running the football for the Baltimore Ravens, quarterback Jackson makes a case for MVP as well. Always a threat running, the work he has put in passing now appears relevant in his game. If Jackson continues ascending, the Ravens may just make the playoffs again and then some as well.

4. Dak Prescott

Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Prescott has lived up to standards after receiving a high paying contract. Another MVP candidate, Prescott has been one of the main reasons why the Cowboys are a potential playoff team and Super Bowl favorite to some. After a bad game coming off an injury against the Denver Broncos, he went back to normal against the Atlanta Falcons in an impressive 43-3 win. The Cowboys’ Super Bowl hopes are still alive.

5. Kyler Murray

The Arizona Cardinals have struggled some since their quarterback, Murray, went down. His importance to the team looks clear, as he’s led them to a consideration of the best NFL team by some. Whether or not his injury messes with his MVP chances remains a mystery. If the Cardinals want to keep their Super Bowl hopes alive, they will need Murray.

6. Josh Allen

An MVP candidate, Allen’s play at quarterback has had the Buffalo Bills clicking on offense. Like Jackson, Allen has shown great progression in his current short NFL career.

7. Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has not lived up to the previous standards he set for himself. Already an MVP Super Bowl Champion in his early career, this season Mahomes has played averagely. Still, him remaining in the MVP race just gives testimony to his talent.

8. Matthew Stafford

Previously the Detroit Lions quarterback and now the Los Angeles Rams quarterback, Stafford seems just right at quarterback for the Rams. He compliments Rams Head Coach Sean McVay's system well. An MVP candidate, Stafford has the Rams in playoff contention.

9. Derek Carr

Regardless of the issues the Las Vegas Raiders have recently faced, their quarterback, Carr, has continued to play well. The Raiders need Carr to continue playing well if they’re going to stay in the playoff hunt.

10. Russell Wilson

Coming off an injury, like Prescott, Wilson, quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, has to get back into the swing of things as well. Rushing back from injury, Wilson didn’t perform well last week. His season, overall, looks good so far though.

So, this is my list of who I think are the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now. However, this list is subject to change. There are parts of it that I feel I need to improve right now and as the season goes on. If you would like to talk to me about my list with any concerns, you can post a comment, and I will get back to you.
